FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (UPDATED Feb 2010)

Will the school be open in the fall of 2010?

Yes. We have Archbishop Vigneron’s blessing and the moral support of the Archdiocese of Detroit. Our development team has worked diligently to ensure that the school will be ready to accept students next fall. We are in the final stages of securing our bond financing.

Will the construction of the whole school be complete in the fall of 2010?
No.The school will open in the fall of 2010 in a temporary location located within a 4 mile radius of the permanent site. The Academy has a parternship with a local sports facility for all athletic activities in the first academic year.  The permanent site will be complete for the fall of 2011.

Will there just be a freshman class?

In 2010, we will be opening with a freshman class. We intend on accepting between 30 and 75 young ladies.  SCSA state of the art facility will be capable to accommodate up to 700 students.

Will the faculty be qualified?

Yes. All of the teachers will be certified and experienced. They will have a full understanding of the vision and mission of SCSA. Our entire staff is dedicated to helping form young women into the Catholic leaders of tomorrow as inspired by the solid Teachings and Traditions of our holy Catholic Church.

Will there be sports and extra-curricular activities?

Yes. We will be part of the Catholic High School League, and participate in a wide variety of athletics and extra-curricular activities. As to specifics of which sports and activities, that will be determined by the interest level of the student and their commitment to participation.

Will the school be accredited?

Yes. St. Catherine of Siena will obtain accreditation from the North Central Educational Association and the National Association of Private and Independent Catholic Schools (NAPICS). The accreditation program applies standards of excellence to private Catholic and independent schools.  St. Catherine will be able to apply for Candidacy after the first year of operation.  The accreditation program is a two year process.

What is the tuition?

The tuition is $9,800 for the 2010 – 2011 school year.  Due to the temporary location, the Academy will be offering a $2,800 grant for the first academic year.

When do you know if you’re accepted?

Will there be any kind of transportation?

Currently, we do not have bus transportation. There is a possibility that we could collaborate with other schools. We also encourage car pooling.

Will there be a dress code?

Yes. Students will wear a uniform. The particulars are still being determined.

What is your typical class size?

There will be about 20 students to a class.
